Simply Terrifying
Free speech was shut down and continues to be shut down in the USA by sections of the federal government. Has your mainstream media told you about this?
A brief excursion into non-engineeringy but, I think, extremely important stuff.
I chanced upon this on YouTube: Former New York Post editor … detailing censorship of … Hunter Biden laptop story [2.1M views 3 days ago]
But then this auto-played: D. John Sauer’s statements summarising the censorship activities of the US Federal Government. [155K views 3 days ago]
Obviously from those viewing numbers, Hunter’s laptop has drawn the crowds.
But I think that second clip is far more important. D. John Sauer, Special Assistant Attorney General at the Louisiana Department of Justice, testified … before the House Weaponization Committee about federal government censorship efforts.
I did a short search and found one other reference to this testimony: “Censorship Hearing – Emma-Jo Morris: ‘Yes,’ Government Censorship of Hunter Biden Story Was Election Interference”. MSN also thought Hunter’s laptop was more important, apparently.
I would have expected the BBC to provide some coverage or at least a mention of the hearings that took place on July 20, 2023 according to the text top left in the clips from Forbes: but nothing.
I was under the impression that free speech is rather important to Americans:
“The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prevents the government from making laws that regulate an establishment of religion, or that prohibit the free exercise of religion, or abridge the freedom of speech, the freedom of the press, the freedom of assembly, or the right to petition the government for redress of grievances.”
Chris - there is a group, of which Michael Shellenberger is a member, which puts out a Substack called ‘Public’ that goes into this issues very much, and it is terrifying. ‘Doomberg’ also writes about US Censorship.
Terrifying doesn’t begin to describe where this is leading.
